About EMO style
To hear some parents talk, the Emo culture might as well be synomous with a life of crime or drugs or booze. It’s true that many Emos are involved in these things, but the two don’t always go hand in hand. Yes, Emos are big on getting tattoos and piercings, but this is not done for pain. It’s done to tell the world something about themselves. Yes, some Emos wear dark clothes and dye their hair. But this does not make a statement about any negative conduct they’re going to engage in. And the fact is, more and more, Emos are also wearing stripes and bright clothing–but clothing that doesn’t quite match. It’s just a style thing, to let the world know that they don’t agree with the world as it’s going right now. It’s a statement that they feel things are slightly amiss. So relax, all you non-Emos. People who adopt this style and still people–they just have a message they want you to get.
