Unfortunately, it appears that Navio Forge’s “As We Quietly Burn a Hole Into . . .” is out of print, and there was never a CD version of the 12″ EP.  It’s unfortunate, because this is definitely the most — well, “Emo” of the Emo records. It has a powerful twin guitar attack and it sounds somewhat sinister, and altogether emotional.  It has a slowly-building moaning and sobbing breakdown and truly poetic, heartfelt lyrics.  If you can find this one, it’s a definite must-have.

Just about anything by All Indian Summer is a good listen, especially their Indian Summer / Embassy split 7″.  It features whispered words coming between loud blasts of soaring, screaming, crushing chords, all the while low-fi jazz is playing softly in the back.

Current’s “Colisseum,” available as a CD or LP features songs that are as heartfelt as you can find in any vocals.  They had the science of loud/quiet lyrics and catchy bass-lines that define Emo music down to a science.
